Stick #40
Bo Ya Smashes His Zither
CautionPoem
How rare in life to find a listening ear?
The shattered zither mourns his friend's demise.
A thousand tears soak the grave mound so dear,
Now parted by death's veil 'neath separate skies.
人世知音能有幾
碎琴都為子期亡
墳前灑盡千行淚
隔別陰陽各一方
Interpretation
Bo Ya was a master zither player, and Zhong Ziqi his perfect listener. After Ziqi's death, Bo Ya smashed his instrument, believing none could truly appreciate his music again. This sign depicts profound grief - tears shed before a grave, separation by life and death. Those drawing this ominous sign must act with caution: only through good deeds can misfortune be transformed. Currently, all endeavors face difficulty.
