Willows drape the dyke, veiled in emerald haze,
Through long days they rise and rest in drowsy phase.
Swallows dart in joyous dance, purple wings ablaze,
Swaying with the wind, their grace my heart obeys.
楊柳垂隄鎖綠烟
日長三起又三眠
往來紫燕紛飛舞
嬝娜迎風倩我憐
Interpretation
Willows by the shore sometimes droop low, sometimes stand tall. Swallows flit to and fro, dancing in the wind—a scene of perfect contentment. Drawing this sign foretells general good fortune in all matters, but beware of petty individuals.
